Chapter Eighteen
Fran all but fell off Skylinâs back and immediately took in the scenery. This wasnât the city, at the sight of the wall realized she was on the other side. Frigging great.
The bitch had set her up big style. As in the shit.
âYou sly cow.â
Skylin nodded her head, and a wisp of smoke blew from her nostrils as her dragon eyes narrowed to slits. A soft growl roared before she took off with a flick of a long tail that glittered in the waning light. At the loud snarl which echoed in the distance Fran hoped the bitch would crash.
Fudge muffin, she was in so much trouble.
Glancing around the area it was devoid of vegetation, one that was a bland bleak landscape. It edged below a mountain covered by a flock of trees. A veritable jungle from what she could tell.
Oh Lord, she prayed to escape but not out here. Fran had wanted off the planet, and she swore if she survived this latest ordeal then she would kill Skylin. How she didnât know, but that flying freaking reptile would so have her wrath.
Maybe make a pair of shoes and a matching handbag out of her skin. Designers used crocodiles, sheâd ad lib and use a dragon, no big deal.
âI donât want to see you deadâ mimicked Fran. Like fuck, out here sheâd be lucky to survive the frigging night.
At a sudden noise Fran froze until she realized it was Charlie giving his little chirrups. Pulling him out of her backpack she rubbed her cheek against his. God she loved the little fella.
He was her living teddy bear. Cute and adorable.
Fran whispered to him. âWeâre alone, babes, but trust me, nothing will hurt you. Iâll die first. I think, okay maybe not.â Fran peered into the descending gloom and searched the area that was already dimming with a blood red sky. Strange calls echoed along with loud screeches that made her shiver.
They were loud sinister sounding and scared the crap out of her. Shit, if she survived Fran would be seeking a way back into the city. Uncaring that she was a birthing unit for the prick.
At least in the palace she was safe. So why did she not have the sense to realize that bitch face wanted her removed permanently?
Oh boy she was so far down the line when they gave out freaking common sense. Except the compulsion to leave had left her brain pool empty.
Clutching Charlie close Fran scrambled up the hill towards the trees that poked up in the distance, at least there sheâd have some sort of protection. Where she was now Fran realized she was open to any type of animal attack.
Narrowing her eyes Fran squinted against the darkness as she trudged through the gloom nearing the sanctity of the trees. Sweat beaded her face as her breathing became labored and her muscles burned. Damnation why couldnât the trees be down a frigging hill. Swallowing her fear Fran sucked in the chilled air, yet her body was on fire.
